🚀 We’re excited to announce that Joshua Bird will be presenting collaborative work with Jan Blumenkamp and Amanda Prorok on: “Decentralized Visual Monocular SLAM (DVM-SLAM)“an open-source, decentralized monocular Cooperative SLAM system! 🎉
🤖📷This groundbreaking work enables multiple robots to collaboratively map unknown environments while simultaneously tracking their positions, using only low-cost, lightweight monocular cameras. 🔍 DVM-SLAM ✅ Works with affordable monocular vision sensors ideal for small robots and MAVs ✅ Operates in a fully decentralized manner ✅ Validated on physical robots in a collision avoidance scenario ✅ Achieves accuracy comparable to state-of-the-art centralized systems
🌟 We’ve demonstrated DVM-SLAM’s effectiveness in real-time multi-agent autonomous navigation scenarios, showcasing its potential for applications from search and rescue to infrastructure inspection
